Elite offers canine protection training for our clients who prefer to own working companion dogs.
Current studies show an increase in the number of personal and business-related canines that undergo specialized training for the protection of their owners and property. There are three levels of training that are offered at Elite’s Camp:

Level I- Deterrent Training
Level II- Defense Training
Level III- Offense Training

Owners who are interested in enrolling their dogs in protection training are first required to have their dog undergo an evaluation. Your dog will be temperament and disposition tested and his/her learning capability will be evaluated. It is important that a dog is confident and friendly when being considered for protective training. He/she should not be nervous, shy or overly aggressive. A well-adjusted protection dog should also be social and behave in a calm and confidant manner whether he/she is interacting with family and children, meeting strangers, being examined by the vet or having an outing in a busy public place. It is important to remember that protection dogs should respond only when given a command to protect or when faced with a direct threat.

Level 1 - Deterrent Training - On Leash

The presence of a large dog displaying aggression will usually deter an inexperienced criminal. However, it is a fact that people do become victims of unsuspecting crimes. The Level 1 dog is trained to show aggression on command. He/she will bark aggressively showing teeth and will lunge at the aggressor who attempts to approach. The threat of harm by the use of weapons, yelling, and other forms of intimidation should not cause the dog to retreat. Although this dog will most likely bite if an aggressor physically challenged the dog, the Level 1 dog’s main purpose is to act as a deterrent. In conjuntion with the Level 1 program your dog will also receive Foundation Training.

The Level 2 dog will display all of the mannerisms trained Level 1. A Level 2 will be trained to fight with his/her aggressor when being threatened and challenged. This training will be executed at the end of a leash. This dog is trained to effectively bite with the use of back jaw power and will continue to bite deeper and longer while being attacked. The level 2 dog will also shake its bite back and forth forcefully while maintaining a full mouth hold. This dog will release on command.

The Level 3 dog has all the training of the Level 2 dog, and in addition will pursue and capture an aggressor who is attempting to flee, by command. The offense dog is trained to use its body to knock down and hold onto the aggressor. This dog will also release its bite on command from a distance.
